How do you clean aquamarine jewellery?

Clean aquamarine jewellery by soaking it in mild warm water with a little dish soap for a few minutes. Then, lightly scrub around and behind the stone using a soft-bristled toothbrush, just to lift the built-up grime.

Aquamarine has a light, clear tone, so dirt plus skin oils get noticed fast, and the stone starts looking dull fairly quickly. Since aquamarine is a sturdy beryl type (Mohs 7.5–8) and usually lacks major inclusions, it is often okay to clean it in an ultrasonic machine, as long as the stone has not been fracture-filled or damaged internally in a serious way.
